“It’s My Pleasure”
Have you heard that before?  If you have been to Chick-fil-a you have definitely heard it said, most likely, over and over.

You thank them for your food, they say, “it’s my pleasure!”

You thank them for refilling your iced tea, they say “its my pleasure!”

Your kid spills their milk all over the floor, they say “its my pleasure!” as they’re cleaning the mess up!

Whatever you do, no matter what you ask, “it’s their pleasure” to take care of it.  Sometimes I try to thank them as many times as I can so that I can hear them say “it’s my pleasure” over and over…just to mess with them.

So what’s my point with bringing up that saying?  It’s to get us thinking about the things that really us bringing us pleasure which I am sure is not cleaning up spilled milk!  Your spouse, your kids, your house, your job!  These are some of things that we think of but what is it that gives God pleasure?  According to
Matthew 3:17, God was pleased with Jesus!  It also pleased God to give Christ all of His fullness (Colossians 1:19).  It pleased God to put Paul into the ministry (Galatians 1:15), but there is one very familiar verse that still amazes me…Isaiah 53:10,Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in his hand.”

Have you ever wondered why it would give pleasure to God the Father to bruise His Son?  Why would it be a pleasure to see Him go through extreme torture and agony?  Why would it be pleasure to see Jesus become a curse by being nailed to the cross?  WHY???  If it is our kids, we don’t want them to ever go through pain, let alone the pain that Jesus went through!  Those things would never give us pleasure, but why did it give God pleasure?

Rest assured, God’s pleasure didn’t happen just  because He got His “jollies” seeing the blood-bath!  His pleasure in “bruising” Christ was that Christ was accomplishing the purpose that He had set out to accomplish…to take away the sins of the world by making Christ the sacrifice!
1 John 2:2 states, “And he (Jesus) is the propitiation (atoning sacrifice to God to appease his wrath) for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world. John 1:29 states, “The next day John teeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.

Jesus obeyed the will of the Father to die for our sins!  He humbled Himself to the death of the cross!  He was bruised and beaten in our place!  He was spit upon and mocked!  He was smacked and beaten…and all of this pleased the Father…because Jesus took His wrath and gave us His righteousness.  “
For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.” – 2 Corinthians 5:21.
Jesus fulfilled the Father’s purpose and that is pleasing to Him!
